Santa Barbara / Water guide / 1 of 3
Read your local water information
A practical guide for your home. This is utility context and equipment guidance, not an individual water test.
The City’s June 2026 report lists recommended softener settings of 21–29 grains per gallon for surface water and 2.5–4.5 for desalinated water. These are source-dependent guidance, not a measurement of your home. The report says the City met or exceeded state and federal drinking-water standards.
Confirm the provider for your address
Downtown, the Mesa or San Roque? Include your ZIP and water provider when you request an assessment. Nearby Goleta and Montecito have their own supply context; availability and the right utility report need confirmation.
Utility reports describe a supply and a period of testing. They are not a test of the water at your tap today. Follow current utility notices and use appropriate laboratory testing for a specific safety concern.
